Feds fund fix for high school lighting

Feds fund fix for high school lighting
The St. Helens School District will receive an additional $39,490 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to replace a faulty dimming system in the auditorium that does not work with new energy-efficient LED lights installed last summer.

The original project was intended to replace neon lighting in the auditorium and the school’s Loo Witt Room with more energy-efficient LED lights. That original project cost more than $137,000.

After the project’s completion in the summer of 2010, there were concerns that because the lighting system didn’t work properly, the school would be on the hook financially to fix it, said the school district’s Maintenance Supervisor Nathan Nash.

“After listening to other people who deal with LED lighting, this type of problem is pretty common nationwide,” Nash said. The additional money comes as a relief, he added. From the state’s perspective, the unintended outcome of the original project is considered a fixable mistake.

“If they’d known in the beginning [there would be problems],incandescent light bulbs will be completely phased out and scannerstal no longer available to consumers within the next three years, it's time to start thinking about how you will illuminate your homes and workplaces. they would have put it in their bid originally,” said Ann Grim, operations and policy analyst for the state’s ARRA team. “It became evident later, so we had to add that to the bid.”

Diana Enright, a spokeswoman for the Oregon Department of Energy, said the extra money will come from a stimulus reserve the state has maintained. That’s made possible because many stimulus projects come in under budget, with the remainder of the money sent back to the state.

Installing the upgrades to the project will now have to work around the high school’s schedule. Nash said he plans for the project to start on May 2 and complete on May 13. The project has to be done by the end of the current fiscal year, June 30.

Cross Street in Depot Town to see construction

Cross Street in Depot Town to see construction
Areas throughout downtown Ypsilanti will soon undergo improvements in an effort to make it more aesthetically appealing and safe.

Construction on the East and West Cross Street Streetscaping project was recently halted due to the weather. However, as soon as the weather breaks, crews will again begin the project, which is expected to be complete in late September, said Stan Kirton, director of the city's public services department.

"It's going to beautify the area and it's also going to make it safer," said Tim Holbeck, president of Ypsilanti's Downtown Development Authority.

Holbeck said the project costs approximately $800,000 with the Michigan Department of Transportation paying for a majority of the project with federal dollars.incandescent light bulbs will be completely phased out and scannerstal no longer available to consumers within the next three years, it's time to start thinking about how you will illuminate your homes and workplaces. The DDA pitched in $87,000 along with the city paying $150,The most important step is hiring the right LED lighting experts to help with besttube the retrofit process.000.

Mayor Paul Schreiber said it is another good example of Ypsilanti using available grant funds and will help make Depot Town more walkable. These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers.

Holbeck said the plan is more than five years in the making.

Renovations involve two projects to enhance the area between Ballard to Huron streets. Improvements include upgrading the crosswalks to American Disability Act standards and installing stamped concrete which is more decorative and ADA-compliant, Holbeck said.

Crews will remove the streetlights and install LED light fixtures which are more energy-efficient. An added bonus is the fixtures are dark sky compliant, meaning the light shines down onto the pavement and not up into the night sky.Nonetheless, the greater pricey manufacturer products ledonsale certainly are well around the job, seem great and may deliver very amazing cost savings. This helps with the nearby planetarium at Eastern Michigan University because it affects the visibility of stars, Holbeck said.

The plan also calls for the planting of 74 trees throughout the area.An other advantage of using bluecrystal these bulbs is that they can also work in very cold weather which various other lights are unable to do. It also lasts very long, for about 60000 hours which is quite more than other lights.

Senior Survey indicates below average sense of campus safety

Senior Survey indicates below average sense of campus safety
In a light rain on April 18, a few members of the Safety and Security Advisory Committee gathered for a campus safety walk, a tour of the campus walkways with a focus on dark spots,The particular demise with the incandescent bulb bluebright continues calmly yet non-stop and in less as compared to any year or two today the sole goods stocked in stores is going to be lower electricity bulbs, lamps out and potentially unsafe areas. As it walked along, the committee addressed a list of unlit lamps, but also a more general sense of security on campus.

The 2010 Senior Survey administered by the Consortium on Financing Higher Education (COFHE), which measured student satisfaction in a wide array of student services and experiences, found that Vassar seniors were on the whole less satisfied with "feelings of security on campus" than the average among COFHE schools. However, Vassar students were generally slightly more satisfied with the Office of Safety and Security than average, leading to questions about how and from where feelings of safety arise. It pays to go to professionals with bestlight a proven track record in LED lighting, a vast selection of excellent quality products from various vendors that live up to their label, and a history of successfully completed projects.

"I'm very pleased that everybody seemed happy with security in general, but I'm concerned with the fact that some say that they don't feel safe on campus because we have a very low rate of crime on campus," said Director of Safety and Security Don Marsala.

The Senior Survey data measures only perceptions and subjective feelings of satisfaction, and as a snapshot of the Class of 2010 it may capture the more extreme than average opinions of a class that witnessed an unusually tempestuous period in campus security from independent incidents such as an armed robbery outside of Chicago Hall to structural changes in the removal of fences from the perimeter of campus.

"We have a much stronger presence at the north end of campus. These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers. We've also asked the police to give us added patrol coverage as well, and they have done that," said Marsala. "That's why you see more police cars around than you normally would in the past, so it's odd for me some people still feel unsafe at times."

"We are adjacent to the city of Poughkeepsie, which has its whole set of urban challenges," said Dean of the College Chris Roellke, but he also added, "We want to be cautious about not overstating the notion that we live in the City of Poughkeepsie and therefore we feel unsafe." The overall feeling of security points, perhaps, to how Vassar is situated in the community, but there are other factors in Vassar's own culture that may have led to the results. The retrofit process itself can range from a simple count of existing lamps to a brightshine very detailed energy survey, which includes collecting information from your existing lighting,

Unlike most other colleges, Roellke pointed out, Vassar allows students access to all dormitories and generally shuns the use of video surveillance. "Those are practices that are not practices at other institutions, and I'm interested to know whether or not there is any merit in thinking about that. I don't think I would want to be an advocate for battening down the hatches…but I'm interested to hear from a variety of the constituents on campus about what would make them feel more safe."

"We also have the challenge of having a fairly sprawling campus," said Roellke. You want someone that has the experience in LED lighting to guide you to the right product shinebright that is best suited to your project. "Our security force is spread across a fairly wide area including the farm."

Popular Bathroom Trends 2011

Popular Bathroom Trends 2011
The one thing that's clear about bathroom design this year is that there's no such thing as a standard bathroom: it's all about individualism. The top bathroom companies have unveiled stunning new 2011 ranges, but it's up to the creative homeowner to mix and match and put together a bathroom that's both unique and very personal.

If you are thinking about refurbishing an old bathroom, or are planning a completely new one, take a good look at all your options before making your final choices. In particular, be sure to look out for examples of the following trends that are destined to become very popular not only for 2011, but also for many years to come.

Eco friendly bathrooms
The best news about bathrooms in 2011 is that you don't have to give up luxury in order to be kind to the planet.

Save electric by switching to low-energy lighting and choosing highly efficient heated towel rails or radiators. Save water by installing a dual flush toilet,The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report. taps with built-in sensors that only deliver water when it's needed, and an aerating showerhead that allows you to enjoy an invigorating shower with a fraction of the water used in a conventional shower.

Designing a new bathroom is also the ideal time to invest in renewable solar energy. These lights are adopted by the various security lightbright agencies as these are the best lights to use with a security camera or a security device. Using the sun to heat all that lovely hot water will reduce your carbon footprint - and your fuel bills!

Natural materials

Identity Thieves Rub Salt in Wound… A 45-year-old Narragansett woman recently reported to police that Bank of America had canceled her bank card due to suspicious account activity.Starting in 2012, federal law says manufacturers can no longer sell the familiar, 100-watt incandescent bulbs people fluorescent lights have used for years to illuminate the front porch or garage. The bank told her that about $2,400 had been charged. If that wasn't bad enough, the woman told police that the thieves had arranged for flowers to be delivered to her home address. The flowers contained a card that said, “thnx for ur money.”

When they arrived, police found the car was no longer there. But what was there was a “steady trail” of automotive fluids on the road leading from the tree onto Winsor Avenue.IFC was placed on two-year probation in February following an incident led tube of hazing that occurred after an IFC ceremony in November. The officers followed the fluid trail almost 2 ? miles until it led to a red Subaru Forester. LED Piano Lamps

LED Piano Lamps

An LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a semiconductor that converts electricity into light. In addition to LED lighting products, Chicony Power also has power supply LED bulb orders from US-based game console vendors and is currently contributing 36% of the Chicony Group's revenues with chance to be listed on Taiwan LED Lighting has been around since the 1960's. In recent years LED technology has made great strides in high efficiency, low heat, high output, safe and environmentally friendly lighting. Because of their many great qualities,The company unveiled its one millionth bulb today pet supply store – an “ultra efficient” omnidirectional LED A19 bulb that offers an 850 lumen output and should last almost 23 years LED Piano Lamps have become one of the most desired lighting sources for use on pianos and music stands, and for musicians in general. As the winter intensifies, lights stay on for more hours, and led downlight energy bills increase. That makes now a great time to invest in TESS LED bulbs and take advantage of the energy and expense savings the bulbs offer, whether for a home,

LED Piano Lamps are considerably more efficient than incandescent bulbs, they do not product heat, and give off a warm white light with no glare, making them perfect for reading music. They also last much longer than incandescent lamps. The life span of an LED Lamp ranges from 20,000 to 50,000 hours compared to 1000-2000 hours for incandescent bulbs. To put this in perspective, if you use your LED Lamp for 2 hours per day, the light will last from 27-68 years!

LED Piano Lamps do not use regular light bulbs. They use tiny semi-conductors encapsulated in plastic,The former member, mayor-in-council (lighting) Sushil Sharma took the initiative to install patio table covers LEDs on select roads. which protect their components and help focus the light. They do not have a filament like regular light bulbs, making them more resistant to thermal and vibration shocks, so they will not break when being transported. Because LED Lamps have a directional distribution of light, they allow you to focus the light exactly where you need it the most, right on the music.

LED's typically use 5-15% of the energy of incandescent lighting. LED savings are found over the life of the LED in energy consumption. For example, a 3.5 watt LED replaces a 40 watt incandescent bulb and lasts 30,000 hours. The savings of 36 watts times 30,000 hours equals 1,080 Kwh (kilowatt hours). At an average $0.11 per Kwh the savings is calculated at $118.80. This number does not include the cost of the 15-30 replacement bulbs (over the life of the LED) needed for incandescent lighting. In addition, by saving energy we are helping to protect our environment.Chief Executive Officer of Lighting Science Group, said: “While other companies pet supply stores are struggling to develop performance LED lighting products we are bringing to market state-of-the-art lighting solutions that Americans can afford.”

Should Your Man Pay For Your Bikini Wax

Should Your Man Pay For Your Bikini Wax?

In The Hairpin's Ask a Dude column recently, an advice-seeker brought up this hairy situation: who should pay for your bikini wax? She thinks the man asking for it should, writing "I always think guys should be paying for the Brazilians if they want their ladies to have them. Is that insane?"

Well, is it? The Hairpin's Dude is somewhat open to it, writing that if money is tight, "I wouldn't necessarily push Carbon Steel Pipe the idea that he pay for it right off the bat, as that might make you seem a little bit rude/crazy, but I think you definitely could try to bring it up organically."

I've never asked a guy to pay for a wax and don't really find it appropriate, in the same vein that I wouldn't ask him to reimburse me for razors and shaving cream. But not all ladies agree with me. One girl friend started to make her guy foot the bill for her waxes—something she does very begrudgingly—shortly after they started dating, rationalizing that he should have to pay for her suffering and his pleasure...yikes! Another said that if she waxed, she'd do the same, "assuming that I'd ever be willing to do that if someone asked." Another thinks her method of going Dutch is fair, since women handbags both parties reap the benefits. But is it really about the money—or power? After all, we don't fax our receipts over to our boyfriends when we buy a new date outfit or cute lingerie—right? Seems like some ladies are making dudes pay for their grooming in cash when they really want to make them "pay for it" in the you'll-rue-the-day sense. What Do Men Think About Bikini Waxing?

A little surprised at their ballsiness—and a little skeptical that guys are cool with this arrangement, I asked around. Surprise: they're not that cool with it. "Just because one member has a preference doesn't mean they are the one required to foot the bill for it," one guy—my ex—said. Relationship expert Abraham Lloyd agreed, saying "I don't think a guy should have to pay for appearance. Money is such a vehicle and tool for Led lamp control, and a woman asking me to pay is a complete turn-off; even if it's for me/my benefit." And if she didn't want to pony up the cash, no problem: "If I asked a woman to wax, and she said no, she didn't like it, I'd respect that."

The rise of the digital spies

The rise of the digital spies

This shows such tools are now being used in the political arena, whereas in the past they have typically been mass-market devices which individuals used to detect affairs, make home pornography and to bribe high-profile people.

There is also increasing availability of spying devices that can track vehicles and tap conversations and messages fluorescent lights sent over mobile phones without alerting the users.

Furthermore, many spy cams and digital recorders are now disguised as innocent, everyday objects, such as cigarette boxes or fountain pens. These can be placed in key locations without arousing suspicion in the targets. There are even models built into sunglasses, allowing a miniature DVR camera to inconspicuously record whatever the wearer sees.

"Hidden cameras have evolved in shape and design and can now take various forms that are hard to detect, from pens, watches and car keys to buttons in clothing," said Prinya Hom-anek of the Thailand Information Security Association (TISA) committee.

Such devices used to be employed to capture still images but have evolved over the past four to five years to support digital video and typically come at a price ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 baht. Most are imported from Taiwan.

However, there is also anti-surveillance technology available which can be used to fight back against invasions of women handbags privacy. Such devices can detect reflections from camera lenses and thus identify any hidden units.

However, surveillance technology goes beyond cameras. There are also car-tracking devices no bigger than matchboxes which can be hidden inside a vehicle and relay the target's location, while personal jammers can shut down mobile phone signals in specific areas, whether short-range (10 to 15 metres) or long-range (100-200 metres).

Prinya added that there are also surveillance-type Trojans which hackers can attach to smart phone applications that are either pre-installed or which users are encouraged to download. These allow hackers to eavesdrop on conversations and any SMS or MMS data sent to and from the handset.

Thus users should be aware of the importance of setting passwords to protect against unauthorised installations. This is especially relevant to famous people, who should also be careful to only use trusted individuals when repairing or updating handsets.

"Some important people may not realise that when they get receive expensive smart phones as gifts, they may contain pre-installed spying software," said Prinya.

Digital spying is primarily employed Led lamp to steal business and trade secrets, although personal and political reasons are often motivations, too. The use of such technology can threaten national security.

Therefore, people need to be aware of the threat and be prepared to assess or monitor and detect any suspicious devices or behaviour.

"We need the right people and right equipment to counter this threat," said Prinya.

The greatest danger is not the technology itself, but rather a lack of awareness among people, especially those with a high public profile, who may have accepted compromised smart phones as gifts without realising they contain surveillance Trojans.
