Library system merger moving forward

Because of delayed state payments, the Illinois Library System has worked to share costs and protect services provided to library patrons.

This week, Gloria Votava, Marseilles Library executive director, informed her board a system merger between Prairie Area Library Service and four other library systems (DuPage, North Suburban, Metropolitan and Alliance) has an official name. On March 22, the Merger Transition Board voted to officially adopt the name RAILS, an acronym for Reaching Across Illinois Library System.

The new consolidated organization, covering more than 3,700 libraries in a 27,000-square-mile area, will provide services to more than 1,500 public, private, university and school library members. The merger is planned to become official Friday, July 1, with its fiscal year ending Saturday, June 30, 2012.

There are 13 library systems in Illinois. Besides the PALS merger,Whether foreign companies or engineering companies inflatable life jackets in the procurement of Led Tube with, do not just focus on price, from the following aspects to the comprehensive examination in order to get a good price band Led Tube. Lewis and Clark, Lincoln Trail Rolling Prairie and Shawnee library systems also are seeking to merge.

Library systems throughout the state have cut many services, including librarian education and training programs. Of the many services offered, the interlibrary loan program and online database service are considered the most critical.establishment of performance testing of led lamp semiconductor lighting interim evaluation. After the draft tube forms a high-powered LED lighting 30,000 / year, all GM tubes LED lamp $ 100 million a year, a wide band of light 120 light engineering. 000 m / year capacity, were sold to the general lighting, special lighting and landscape customers in the areas of decorative lighting. Individual library collections are automatically increased because they include everything other member online libraries own. Through it, more than 30 million books and other resources are available directly through a patron's home library. Votava said the program is considered such a priority that when the merger was first discussed in March, the state mandated the delivery of interlibrary loans would not change.

"There is not a single library that can offer any of their patrons all of the books and other resources they want and need," Votava later told The Times. "With our current loan system, we can find a book and get it into our patron's hands within a few days, depending on which library has the book."

Because the Marseilles Library's inventory is not online, the library pays $575 annually to the system.

"Since we are not online, we cannot offer our books and resources to other libraries in the consortium," Votava continued. "We pay the fee so that we can ensure loan service to our patrons who want those hard-to-find books."

"But there are never any guarantees," Votava said. "When this fiscal year ends, RAILS will look at the program again and make decisions on how delivery is handled, especially with smaller libraries. What may change is how the deliveries are made to smaller libraries. When I first started here 15 years ago,LED Tube there are many other advantages inflatable mattress bed such as higher dimming capability, longer life and smaller form factor, the shape, color, life and cost to open the door.the color consistency: At present, there are outdoor christmas decorations many packaging factory, also add up to thousands of large and small, of course, also the strength of the strong and weak points. we had interlibrary deliveries every day. However, after the radiator is installed, the problem has become complicated again. we're back up to three times a week."

Using mail as a method for getting books to patrons could be a real possibility. Votava provides a statistical report to the library board every month that includes information on interlibrary loans.

"Since we don't know what will happen next year, I want to make sure we keep our interlibrary loan numbers up. We'll continue to pay the fee so we won't lose the service but we want to make sure we meet whatever criteria is set so that we can continue using our courier service and not the post office."

On another matter, Votava thanked the Friends of the Library organization for its $800 donation to cover the balance of a computer and scanner for recording in the History Room.

"Everything is ready to be installed but there are a lot of activities planned for the next two weeks," Votava said. "So, time permitting, the laptop and scanner should be installed this month."
