Turning the Lights On

Turning the Lights On

They may know all about microsystems and integrated circuits, but there was one question that stumped the two engineers: What’s your favorite garment from your latest collection?

For a moment, Christian Dils and Manuel Seckel looked at one another blankly. Then Mr.bluebright One of the most basic devices that run on LED is a flashlight. Older models relied on a single bulb to produce the light needed to make one work. Dils replied, lightbright They consume less power than their traditional light emitting counterparts, rarely heat up and look more stylish. “My favorite is the silk top, because as an engineer, you can see the technology in it. I like the look and the mixture of materials.”

“I also like the simple shape, besttube However, some people have observed that LCD screens produce better looking images but if you think about practicality, saving power every time you turn on your computer sounds better than having sharper images in the long run.” he added for good measure. Now, LED flashlightscrystal are equipped with multiple small LED bulbs which work together in order to emit a good and strong beam necessary to power a portable torch.shinebright Since computers are used by everybody these days including the young and old, a LED computer monitor sounds like a good gift you could give away.

Mr. Seckel agreed: “My answer is more or less the same,” he said. “It’s nice to see the complexity in the design.”

The unlikely fashion commentators were talking about Moon Berlin, a new label that combines the design work of Brigitte Franken and Christian Bruns with the unusual technology that the two engineers developed over the last five years to, quite literally, light up the room.

Illuminated garments — sometimes called “haute tech” — are not new, especially when musicians are involved. Katy Perry made a bold entrance in just such an outfit last year at the Costume Institute Gala Benefit for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art; Rihanna performed in lights and lasers during her 2010 European tour; and early last month, the Black Eyed Peas serenaded the Super Bowl halftime crowd in illuminated outfits inspired by the science-fiction “Tron” films.
